When I was six months pregnant, I felt like I was drowning. Between my work commitments, home responsibilities, and managing chronic pain from an arthritis flare-up, I was pushing myself to the absolute limit.
I thought I could just power through it all. But let me tell you—there’s only so much your body and mind can take before they start breaking down.
Looking back, I realise that exhaustion wasn’t the problem. The problem was that I wasn’t listening to what my body and nervous system were trying to tell me. I was in full burnout mode, and I didn’t know how to stop.
It wasn’t until I began to focus on regulating my nervous system, setting clear personal and professional boundaries, and finding time to rest that I started to see a shift. I learned that my body wasn’t trying to sabotage me; it was desperately trying to tell me that it needed care, rest, and some serious boundaries.
If you're feeling overwhelmed, stretched too thin, or just not yourself lately, please know that you're not alone. It’s not your fault. These feelings are often a message from your nervous system saying, “Hey, I need some love and care!” And the good news? You don’t have to stay stuck in this cycle.
Learning to listen to and care for my nervous system changed everything for me. I figured out how to rest and what rest looked like for me. I understood my limits and respected them. Slowly, I started to feel more like myself again. And if you're feeling the same way, I want you to know that there’s a way out. You can find balance. You can create boundaries. You can take care of yourself.
Because you deserve to feel like yourself again, too. 💛
